Adam and Flappy
Rabbit joined the
OZ Saferooms team in October, 2006 to launch the “OZ Kids
created this cartoon in an effort to try and educate children about the
safety of an OZ Saferooms in the event of a tornado. I would like to thank
Fred Armstrong, Dave Puls and Mike Boas at Animatus Studio in Rochester, New
York, with their help and direction in the creation of this cartoon.”
Adam Markajani started to draw at an early age. As he grew older, he began to make comic books and animated slideshows in the program Kid Pix on an old iMac computer. His biggest hero Walt Disney inspired him to want to become a cartoonist. Adam first branched into the world of animation in 2004. His parents Al and Karen Markajani signed him up in an animation class at the Penfield Recreation Center. It was there that Adam made his first 5 second cartoon starring his first official cartoon character, Flappy Rabbit. The class instructor, Dave Puls, came from an animation studio called “Animatus” in downtown Rochester, NY. They teach animation to kids, teens, and even adults. It was at the Animation Workshop at Animatus where Adam finally found a place to continue with his dream.
In 2006, Adam won FIRST place in a contest held by Bay Trail Middle School in Penfield NY during Red Ribbon Week. He created a short cartoon made in Flash MX about staying drug-free. Also in 2006, Adam submitted a cartoon about the first amendment to the Genesee Valley New York Civil Liberties Union Film Festival being held at the Little Theatre in Rochester, NY. His cartoon starred Flappy Rabbit and won the “Most Creative” film award. In May 2009, Adam submitted another cartoon that he made to the Rochester High Falls International Film Festival’s Youth Competition. It was called “How the Wheel Was Invented” and once again starred Flappy Rabbit. His film was among the top choices of the judges and Adam won a certificate of merit. In July 2009, Adam submitted the cartoon again to a film festival held at Animatus Studio. He won 3rd place in the contest.
Adam Markajani loves to entertain people and make them laugh. He hopes to enter many more film festivals and contests in the future. Over the years his interests in the entertainment industry have grown. He now hopes to become a famous animator, film director, and possibly get into acting as well. Someday he hopes to unleash his ideas and numerous other cartoon characters into the world and leave a legacy that equals or overshadows his heroes.
